Enormous liabilities
Filipinos are essentially perishable inventory that their society are desperately trying to dispose of profitably.
For some time now, the biggest worry of the rich world has been its ageing and declining population. More old people mean more resources will be diverted towards their care and support and less towards building and sustaining the underpinnings of continued economic growth. With proportionately less young people comes less economic activity to generate commerce, innovation, and wealth. In societies with strong traditions of creating the latter two, that is a big existential problem.
