Increasingly desperately Opposition candidates beg for YouTube subscribers
Dear GRP Insiders,
In these last couple of weeks before Christmas, consider taking time out to step back to regard the bigger picture.
Family ties and friendships need not suffer because of differing politics.

In review and in prospect
Last week saw further evidence of the organisational acumen of the campaign of Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte tandem. Their campaign seemingly attracted huge crowds in several major sorties conducted this week. Whatever way the debate swings on whether these crowds were organic or paid or mobilised top-down or emergent bottom-up from the grassroots, the optics were there and the effect on the Opposition was palpable.
The Opposition coming across as increasingly desperate was made even more evident by a scramble to bump up subscription numbers in their candidates’ YouTube channels following an announcement issued by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) that it will co-ordinate with the video sharing service to verify politicians' official video channels there. Various Opposition candidates have since then been telling their supporters that they require a minimum 100,000 subscribers to acquire a “verified” badge on YouTube. According to COMELEC spokesman James Jimenez, no such requirement has been imposed. Despite this clarification Opposition politicians continue to appeal for to their supporters to subscribe to their channels as vice presidential candidate Kiko Pangilinan does in this tweet…
Communist candidate Neri Colmenares on the basis of just being “told” of the 100,000-follower “rule” jumped on the bandwagon as well begging his supporters to subscribe to his YouTube channel…
Goes to show the very people who constantly screech about being victims of “fake news” are themselves guilty of spreading false information.
What's in store for this week? Possibly more of the same as more statistical information on just how desperate the situation of the Opposition is as the BBM-Duterte tandem maintain their trajectory to power. The Opposition camps may keep promising that they will catch up and overtake the juggernaut soon but so far have produced little evidence that they have an actual plan to do just that.

Various Opposition factions led by the Yellowtards and communists are trying to out-WOKE each other

"This race to the bottom seems to account for the increasingly ridiculous stunts to prove who is the downest to the earthest. Who cooks the most nutritionally-bankrupt dish and who delivers the most baduy dance moves."
According to the Yellowtards, Leni Robredo MUST win. How exactly is a mystery.

"Leni Robredo may become president if her henchwomen succeed at removing BBM from these elections. But she will not, by any stretch of the imagination, be seen to have won these elections."
Five things that are wrong about Leni Robredo’s campaign for President

"No one from Leni Robredo’s camp is prepared to admit that despite being the Vice President and having been the Darling of the Media for six years, Robredo is still not popular with the voters."
The REAL message of Leni Robredo’s campaign: Let them eat LUGAW!
December 7, 2021 by benign0
"Lugaw, and a very shallow porridge spiced with a bit of egg and fish sauce, is the only thing they deem appropriate to give to their so-called 'laylayan'."
“LUGAW” is what makes Leni Robredo’s campaign come across as ELITIST
December 6, 2021 by benign0
"For most members of Leni Robredo’s campaign team, lugaw is a mere tool for signalling their temporary solidarity with a community whose votes they desperately seek to attract."
Why Bongbong Marcos’s rise to power mirrors Korean boy band BTS’s rise to fame
December 6, 2021 by benign0
"Marcos did not have any backing other than that of the base of supporters he cobbled together practically person-by-person, town-by-town, province-by-province. He was, after all, the 'son of the dictator' as his rivals gleefully — to the point of obsolescence — point out."

"Varona should apply a bit more circumspection the next time she parrots Ressa’s ululations lest she falsely accuses hundreds of thousands of Filipino social media users as collectively forming mere 'sludge' in what are essentially public fora."
