Dear GRP Insiders,
Does signalling care for the poor still win elections? This is a question campaign strategists need to consider carefully in light of the confronting data on its effectiveness.
The new normal demands new and innovative campaign approaches, not the old obsolete ones we are seeing today.

In review and in prospect
Last week was much of the same. Still the same unprincipled posturing among politicians on both sides. Still a lack of any platform from any of the opposition bids — including that of the tandem of Ping Lacson and Tito Sotto which initially held lots of promise.
Instead, Filipinos got lame roadshows and were subject to the usual lazy practice of mudslinging and grandstanding with the Senate being used as an expensive platform for both. Much of the political “analysis” by public intellectuals was sophomoric which, to be fair, is likely because there wasn't much material to work with.
As usual, mainstream media lent disproprtionate airtime to Vice President Leni Robredo. While it is likely that some in that industry's cadre of business leaders appreciate that this is precisely the sort of thing that contributes to the continued decline in the public's trust in their respective organisations, their business with their respective sponsors evidently tilts the balance they try to achieve more often than not.

"It doesn’t help also that other sectoral representatives go out and leak videos of the IATF-EID meetings when discussions become heated. All this is in aid of politicking for the Opposition. This kind of behavior shouldn’t be tolerated."
