GRP Mail - 20 Sep 2021
Glance at your rear view mirror occasionally, but keep your eyes on the road.
Dear GRP Insiders,
It's time Filipinos apply a forward-looking eye to their politics than the stuck-in-the-past regard for it that the Opposition would like them to sustain.

In review and in prospect
Last week was marked by the ramping up to heightened levels of the all-too-familiar campaign of vilification the Yellowtards have been waging against the legacy of former President Ferdinand Marcos since 1986. One of the objects of this shrill “activism” is showbiz personality Toni Gonzaga who triggered the mob by hosting former Senator Bongbong Marcos on her YouTube channel.
Former ambassador and Manila Times columnist Bobi Tiglao also copped a woke cancellation after he requested clarification on the nature of the digital “Martial Law Museum” that is supposedly hosted by the web servers of the Ateneo de Manila University. Following a query addressed to Miguel Paolo Rivera posted on Facebook, Tiglao reports that his posting privileges were suspended there sparking outrage over what many have long suspected to be a social media platform controlled by the Yellowtard bloc.
The Opposition are evidently nervous of a possible Bongbong Marcos presidential candidacy — and a possible victory — in 2022. Such an event would constitute a monumental slap across the face of a camp that, for three decades, have led Filipinos to believe that all their troubles as a people were caused by the 21-year “dictatorship” of Ferdinand Marcos.

"In this scenario, the President and GMA are left with no other choice than to run a Marcos-Duterte ticket. It is not only logical but it is also the best test of public approval for the Duterte administration if the election is to be about continuity of change."

UP academic Clarita Carlos: convene a team of scholars to SCIENTIFICALLY assess The Marcos Years
September 19, 2021 by Ramon Ortoll
"The declaration of martial law wasn’t meant to extend Marcos’s term. He already addressed that by amending the Constitution to adopt a parliamentary form of government. With or without martial law, that would’ve been the outcome of the 1971 Constitutional Convention."
