The debate hosted by SMNI News last Tuesday provided a glimpse into a modern world where issues of national consequence and those relevant to ordinary Filipinos could be discussed and debated free of noise. Without the baying and howling of members and “thought leaders” of the traditional Opposition and without the “input” of self-absorbed “journalists” employed by Big Corporate Media, the conversation flowed around topics fit for national chief executives and was not constrained by a need to pander to a mob looking to brawl rather than engage in a genuine exchange of ideas.
