Weekly Brief
New Year brings new things but not much good for the Opposition unless they get serious about winning the election.
Dear GRP Insiders,
Happy New Year! Thanks for the continued support you provide to our media project GRP Insider.
I'll be instituting some minor changes to the way we deliver our content starting today. Here are the changes relevant to you.
Email “From” field
The “From” field on emails you will be receiving from us will now be simply “GRP Insider” (previous emails showed “benign0 from GRP Insider”).
Subscribers to free content
You will continue to receive your weekly summary every Monday at 7am (Philippine time)
The Subject line of your weekly summary will show the text “Weekly Brief” (previous emails showed “GRP Mail - [today's date]”).
Subscribers to premium content
You will continue to receive your premium content daily (as well as the Weekly Brief all subscribers enjoy Monday mornings).
The Subject line of your daily emails will no longer contain the text “Daily Brief”. The Subject line will be put to better use and, instead, will contain text that broadly reflects the actual subject of the content in the email for the day. In the case of an email with a diverse set of topics and/or updates, the Subject line may describe the top/banner headline or update.
The Subtitle line text of your email (the text below the main Subject line) will continue to contain a short summary of the key contents of the email.
Some of the emails you will receive are part of our new premium section “Tomorrow Debunked” — a newsletter on technology and other geeky trends. You are subscribed to this section by default (you can manage your email subscriptions by going to your account settings).
Here’s to what's evidently going to be an exciting year ahead. Thanks for being a part of our journey!
Regards,
benign0
In review and in prospect
It's been a quiet week on the political front; not surprising considering the holiday cheer. This just means there will likely be not much change to the fortunes of the various partisan camps as everybody slowly wakes up over the next week or two to the reality that it is 2022.
With less than four months to go to Election Day and up to four reports (published and leaked) on popularity surveys conducted by reputable polling firms showing mutually consistent results, the prospect of a change in the losing trajectory of the Opposition led by Leni Robredo is getting dimmer. As Yellowtard “thought leader” Manuel L Quezon III suggests over several tweets yesterday, hope for them lies in seeing the highly-probable Bongbong Marcos - Sara Duterte administration looming in the horizon fail over the next six years. That's not a very nice thing to be wishing for and only further highlights just why these people shouldn't be in power.
The Omicron variant and, very likely, new variants coming down the pipeline will be coming into the Philippines over this and possibly the next year. So long as COVID continues to be transmitted in many parts of the world, so too will new mutations arise and the fittest of these will make their mark on humanity and be given the next Greek letter. The winners that will emerge this year will be those who are in a position to capitalise on and profit off the miseries these will cause and are quick to spot the opportunities these will open.

"It is interesting that, for some reason, it is members of the Opposition — particularly partisans associated with Leni Robredo’s Yellowtard bloc within it — that account for much of the shrill online vitriol being thrown at Chua."
