Weekly Brief
Opposition continues to happily rely on crowd sizes at their rallies to make conclusions about their winnability in these elections
In review and in prospect
Massive rallies continue to mark the desperate homestretch campaign of the leading Opposition faction led by “vice president” Leni Robredo. The most recent one yesterday was held in Pasay City which, depending on one’s source of “information”, attracted from 100,000 people to more than 400,000. These rallies and their attendance are being touted by Robredo's Yellowtard camp as evidence that they have a shot at winning these elections.
But, like claims by the Yellowtards that their camp represents the “decent” choice as one of their thought leaders Mel Sta. Maria, Dean of the Far Eastern University School of Law make above, a show of many people gathered in a place to represent a political camp is likely to be no more than an obsolete spectacle. The many voter preference survey reports conducted by reputable polling firms showing data that describe the insurmountable lead of administration tandem Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte remain mutually-consistent. Using a crowd to draw conclusions on the preferences of a voter population does not constitute sound science.
Just as in these street rallies, the Yellowtards are also disproportionately represented in content disseminated by the Philippines’ mainstream newspapers and mainstream television broadcasts. They are also the “polite” choice in most social circles and, as such, dominate social media timelines. In short, the Yellowtards need to ask themselves a simple question: What makes a crowd at a Yellowtard rally any more reliable than the profile Yellowtards enjoy in traditional and social media as an indicator of their winnability in an election? The lessons of the Yellowtards’ catastrophic loss in the 2019 elections evidently remain unlearned.

"That Yellowtard figurehead Leni Robredo, would participate in a dishonest fashioning of communists like Colmenares as 'partners' in 'building a nation' smacks of hypocrisy considering the late matriarch of Yellowtardom Cory Aquino herself battled these terrorists."
