Interoperable Monopoly games
Previously we introduced the analogy of the familiar board game Monopoly to help us gain a better understanding of what the cheerleaders of a “Web 3.0” land of cryptocurrencies and million-dollar non-fungible tokens (NFTs) hope to achieve. Many modern video games allow players to build little pretend empires within their closed ecosystems by achieving game objectives and earning game tokens as rewards for those achievements in the course of play. In some games, those tokens could be redeemed or traded (with other players on multiplayer games) for “assets” that enhance a player’s ability to achieve game objectives. The creators of Monopoly nailed that gaming model decades ago.
